September 5, 2006
Wise, VA -- The two fourth quarter standouts for the Highland Cavalier football team earned Mid-South Player of the Week honors. Defensive end Reggie Dorsainvil was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week while four rushing touchdowns garnered Morgan for the Offensive side.
The University of Virginia's College at Wise scored 34 second half points including two touchdowns in the final minute to defeat North Greenville University, 48-35, last Saturday night. The Cavs defeated their second-straight NCAA Division II opponent on the season to improve to 2-0 in the early season.
Dorsainvil (Virginia Beach, VA/Salem) set the table and Morgan put the points on the board. Tied 35-35 with 1:07 left in the game, Dorsainvil intercepted the Crusaders' quarterback at the visitor's 30-yard line. After a Cavs' penalty, Morgan took the handoff on the first play, broke two tackles on the left side line five yards down the field before sprinting to paydirt for what would be the game-winning touchdown. On the second offensive play after the ensuing kick-off, Dorsainvil sacked the North Greenville quarterback in the endzone forcing a fumble which teammate Matt Hutchings recovered for a touchdown for the 48-35 final.
The junior defensive end sacked the Crusader quarterback late in the third quarter. UVA-Wise turned the turnover into a score to take the lead 28-21 with 13 seconds left in the third.
Morgan (Chesterfield, VA/Meadowbrook) posted the first points in the game with a 10-yard run in the first before adding touchdowns of four and five yards to go with his 45-yard game-winner. The junior running back ran for over 135 yards for the second week in a row as he accounted for 149 yards on 28 carries. He also caught three passes for 17 yards. Morgan has rushed 49 times for 288 yards and five scores in the Cavs' first two contests.
Dorsainvil totaled six tackles, two sacks for 13 yards, two forced fumbles and an interception on his effort. He has nine tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks over the opening two games.
UVA-Wise will enjoy an off week this weekend before hosting Southern Virginia University for a 7:00 p.m. tilt Saturday, September 16th.
