Late TD Run Propels Wasps over Cavs in JV Football

WISE, VA -­ Daniel Booher's 32-yard touchdown run with 4:11 remaining propels Emory & Henry over UVA-Wise, 21-14, in junior varsity in 'Monday Night' football.

The junior varsity action was the first meeting between southwest Virginia's two collegiate football teams since 1995. Both of the varsity programs wrap up their seasons this Saturday with the Wasps (5-4) hosting Guilford at 1:00 p.m. while the Highland Cavaliers (7-3) entertain Union College for a 1:30 p.m. kick-off.

After a fumble return and 35-yard run by Carleton Bell gave the visitors a 14-0, the Cavs' Brad Robbins hooked up with wideout Brad Ricker two times in the second frame. Ricker caught scoring strikes of 22 and 34 yards less than a minute apart from Robbins for a 14-14 halftime score.

Daniel Booher broke the tie with 4:11 left in the game when he broke a quarterback keeper over the left side for what would be the deciding points, 21-14.

Robbins passed for 163 yards and Ricker caught five of his passes for 130 yards. Jason Lovett rushed for 86 yards and Bruce McMullen 53 yards on the night.

Bell rumbled for 110 yards on 19 carries to pace the Wasps offense.
