Haley Earns Second Mid-South Defensive Player of the Week Acclaim

Wise, Va. – For the second time of the season, UVa-Wise strong safety James Haley has earned the Mid-South Conference football Defensive Player of the Week acclaim.
The sophomore produced a career-best 17 tackles, 12 solo, 2.5 tackles for loss of 10 yards, had two quarterback hurries and returned a fumble 68 yards for a touchdown as UVa-Wise suffered a heart-breaking 41-38 overtime defeat at the hands of the University of the Cumberlands.
Haley received his first weekly honor after having 10 tackles, five solo, 1.5 tackles for loss, a sack, forced a fumble, returned a fumble 46 yards and broke up two passes. On the season, the Gladys, Va. native (William Campbell HS) has 72 tackles, third on the team, five tackles for loss of 24 yards, a sack, seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
UVa-Wise will wrap up its 2007 regular season on Saturday, November 10 th for a 1:30 p.m. contest at West Virginia Tech.
