UVa-Wise’s Morgan Named AFCA NAIA All-American for Second Time

Wise, Va. – The University of Virginia’s College at Wise record-setting running back Ra’Shad Morgan was named to the AFCA NAIA Coaches’ All-America team for the second-straight season announced today by the American Football Coaches Association.

Morgan becomes the first Highland Cavalier football player to earn All-American first team distinction two times in the program’s 17-year history. 

He also is a two-time All-Mid-South East Division first team running back.  Morgan helped the 14 th-ranked Cavs finish 9-2 and share its first Mid-South East crown in school history this season.

The Chesterfield, Va. native led the NAIA with 17.4 points per game while finishing second in rushing yards per contest at 148.5 and fourth in all-purpose yards per game (178.1).  The senior rushed for 1,485 yards on 253 carries with 27 touchdowns.  The 5-10, 208-pound back caught 34 passes for 296 yards and another two scores.

The Meadowbrook High product finished his four-year UVa-Wise career with 4,432 rushing yards on 792 attempts with 62 rushing touchdowns.  Morgan holds four career and eight single season school records.
