Robertson Earns Football Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete Distinction

Kansas City, Mo. – UVa-Wise middle linebacker Ben Robertson earned 2007 football Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete distinction announced on Monday, Dec. 15.
The senior received the honor along with 232 other football student-athletes across the nation in the NAIA. Robertson from Morehead City, N.C. carries a 3.72 overall GPA in his sport management major at UVa-Wise. The scholar-athletes have to carry at least a 3.50 GPA to be nominated for the acclaim.
Robertson helped the Highland Cavaliers to the program’s first Mid-South East Division title, 14 th ranking in the nation and the second wins in school history at 9-2.
The West Carteret High product picked up both Mid-South East and Virginia All-State first team awards. He led the UVa-Wise defense in tackles for the third year in a row after recording 124 in 11 games. He was eighth in the nation in tackles (11.3/game) while having 12.5 tackles for loss and six sacks as well as returning one interception for a score.
