UVa-Wise Football Coach Austin Involved in Saturday Accident

Big Stone Gap, Va. -- On his way home on Saturday night, UVa-Wise assistant football coach Shawn Austin was unfortunately involved in a car accident a couple miles north of Big Stone Gap on Route 23. The Cavs' gridiron coach came through the incident with some injuries and is currently in stable condition at Holston Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn.

Coach Austin, who is in his third year with UVa-Wise, was heading home to Johnson City south on Route 23 Saturday evening. A car drove by an unidentified elderly man was heading north in the same south bound lane in the wrong direction and struck Austin's car to cause the accident.
