UVA-Wise Golfers Compete Against NCAA DI Field

Morehead, KY – The UVA-Wise men’s golf team faced its toughest competition of the fall when they took part in the Rex Chaney Eagle Classic on Monday and Tuesday. The Highland Cavaliers was the lone non-NCAA Division I participant at the two day event held at Morehead State.
UVA-Wise placed eighth in the field with a three-round tally of 922. Host Morehead State won the event by three strokes over Southern Illinois, 854 to 857.
John Graham was the top finisher for the Cavs with a 223 score to tie for 24th. Bryan Bentley was the second team placer in T31st (226). Shane McDavid, Ryan Robbins and Rhyne Hammitt were the other scoring golfers for UVA-Wise in T48th (238), 50th (240) and 52nd (243).
Ben Greenway and Matt Faircloth played in the event but did not count in the scoring with finishes of 53rd (247) and 54th (262).
The UVA-Wise golfers will next take part in the Coker College Invitational on October 15 th through 17 th in Hartville, SC.
