Cavs Golfers Claim Third at Mid-Carolina Invitational

Prosperity, SC – Over the weekend, the University of Virginia’s College at Wise men’s golfers claimed third place at the Mid-Carolina Invitational. The Highland Cavaliers finished two shots out of second in the six team field.
The Cavs’ golfers had their top three finishers in the two-day event bunched together. Ben Greenway (Newport News, VA/Heritage) finished eighth (+7) with a 151, six strokes from the top spot. Bryan Bentley (Wise, VA) and John Graham (Wise, VA) tied for ninth, one stroke behind Greenway. Shane McDavid (Gate City, VA) was the next Cav finisher, tied for 13th (153).
Rounding out the UVA-Wise contingent, Ryan Robbins (Jonesville, VA), Rhyne Hammitt
(Kingsport, TN) and Matt Faircloth came away in T28th (163), T30th (165) and T33rd (171).
The Cavs will now be off until taking part in the Tusculum Invitational on Oct. 1-3.
