UVA-Wise Opens Fall Golf Season at U. Cumberlands Fall Invite

London, KY – At the University of the Cumberlands Fall Invitational, the UVA-Wise men’s golf team started the 2006 fall season. The Highland Cavaliers received a strong performance from Bryan Bentley in 12th but the team has a slow start.
Bentley fired a five over par 149 to tie for 12th but was only four shots out of third place. As a team, UVA-Wise placed 10th of the 14 team fields with a +62 for the one day event. Lee University claimed the team title with a +11 while Campbellsville University was second at +20.
John Graham had the next best outing for the Cavs at 159 to tie for 38th. Ryan Robbins finished T50th (163), Matt Faircloth T59th (168) and Shane McDavid 62nd (169). Rhyne Hammitt and Ben Greenway were the last two UVA-Wise placers in 65th (172) and 76th (185).
The Cavs will next take part in the Mid-Carolina Invitational on Sept. 15-16 hosted by Newberry College.
