UVa-Wise Golfers Compete in Tough Accusport Invite

Hickory, NC -- The University of Virginia's College at Wise men's golf team played in another tought invitational the past two days. The Highland Cavaliers faced mainly NCAA Division II competition and came away 15th in the field.
Pfeiffer College took away the top team acclaim with a two day total of 630, eight strokes better than runner-up and host Lenoir-Rhyne (638). The University of Charleston was third with a 641. UVa-Wise shot a 696 for its 15th place.
Brad Phillips was the top Cavs' placer, tied for 49th, with a 171. Bryan Bentley (T56th) and Shane McDavid (T61st) were the next two finishers with scores of 173 and 174. The final two UVa-Wise golfers were also bunched together as Patrick King hit a 184 (76th) and John Graham fired a 186 (T77th).
The UVa-Wise golfers will next host their own invitational on April 2-4 which will be played at the Ridgefields Country Club in Kingsport, TN.
