UVa-Wise Sits in 8 th After First Day of Cavalier Invitational

Day 1 Results
Kingsport, Tenn. – UVa-Wise sits in eighth place of its own Cavalier Invitational held at Ridgefields Country Club after day one on Monday while Appalachian Athletic Conference rival Tennessee Wesleyan has the top spot by 14 strokes.
The Highland Cavaliers shot a 336 as a team to be eighth of the 12 team field. Tennessee Wesleyan hit a 286 and leads Spartanburg Methodist CC which posted a 300 is behind by 14 strokes. King College and Milligan College are tied for third at 305. Tennessee Wesleyan’s Alex Coughlin leads the individual scores with a 69 while Mike Dinwiddie of Covenant is right behind at 70.
UVa-Wise was paced by Rhyne Hammitt’s 74 while Bryan Bentley hit a 78. John Blake Graham had an 81 and Evan Sturgill an 82. Matt Faircloth rounded out the team with an 89.
The second day of the Cavalier Invitational will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
