Rappahannock’s Brown Set to Take to the Golf Course for UVa-Wise

Wise, Va. – Last week, UVa-Wise head men’s golf coach Leigh Clark added a young and upcoming golfer to the team. Coach Clark signed Rappahannock High’s Austin Brown to her 2008-09 recruiting class.

Brown is the first golfer in his high school’s history to receive a golf scholarship. He earned both all-district and all-region honors as well as going to the state finals a year ago. Last summer, Austin won the Jefferson Lakeside Tournament sponsored by the Richmond Junior Golf Tour.

The future Highland Cavalier golfer is the son of Marshall and Cynthia Brown of Callao, Va. He plans to be a business and finance major while attending UVa-Wise in the fall.
