UVa-Wise Golfers Show Strongly Against NCAA DI Competition

Morehead, KY – In a field comprised totally of NCAA Division I men’s golf teams, the University of Virginia’s College at Wise produced a strong showing of sixth place at the Greg Palmer Eagle Classic held at Morehead State University.
The Highland Cavaliers posted a 909 score for the 54 hole event for their sixth place finish. Evansville University was first (856) followed by UT-Martin (862) and Morehead State (873). UVa-Wise did beat Indiana-Purdue-Ft. Wayne and Butler University who had team scores of 909 and 913.
Patrick King led the way for the Cavs with a score of 225 for 20 th place. Eli Norris and Brad Phillips were only strokes behind with totals of 226 (T21st) and 227 (T24th). scored 226 to tie for 21 st. Bryan Bentley hit a 231 to round out the scoring Cavs while Shane McDavid and Ryan Robbins posted a 237 and 243 stroke totals.
UVa-Wise will take the rest of the fall off before returning to the course to begin the spring season in March of 2006.
