Game 2 Boxscore

Athens, TN -- A three-run outburst pushed UVa-Wise past Tennessee Wesleyan but could not score for the second day against Lee University. Sarah Frazier tripled home two runs and scored the third to help defeat the Lady Bulldogs, 5-3 before Lee plated runs in two innings for a 3-0 win.

After UVa-Wise scored twice in the top of the fourth, Tennessee Wesleyan tied the game in the bottom of the frame on two unearned runs. The game remained 2-2 until moving to extra innings. Britney Lawson led off the eighth with a single and moved Dani Benton, who started on second base due to the international extra inning rule. Frazier tripled down the line to score both and scored herself on a single from Krystal Showers. The Lady Bulldogs amounted one run in the bottom of the eighth but fell 5-3 to the Lady Cavs.

Lawson, Frazier and Showers sliced two hits apiece. Mary Wilson and Mallory Mazur added one single. Lawson stole two bases. Amanda Wheeler allowed two hits, a walk and struck out two batters over five innings before Dani Benton picked up the win over the final three innings where she gave up two hits.

In the second game, Lee took advantage of six UVa-Wise miscues to score three unearned runs. Lee held UVa-Wise scoreless for the second time in two days by a 3-0 score. Alicia King and Showers accounted for the only Lady Cav hits.

UVa-Wise will next play a pair of games at the University of the Cumberlands on Tuesday.
