19th-Ranked Reinhardt Handles UVA-Wise to Finish Weekend

Waleska, GA – The dismal weekend came to an end at the hands of host and 19 th-ranked Reinhardt College for UVA-Wise. The Lady Eagles scored multiple runs four times en route to an 11-2 victory over the Lady Cavs.

UVA-Wise (0-5) completed the difficult three days by scoring only eight runs in its final four games after plating 10 on Friday night in the season opener.

Reinhardt wasted not time in putting runs on the scoreboard as Angela Lack laced a two-run double to take a 2-0 lead in the first. The score remained the same until the host team took advantage of four walks, a hit batter and a Lady Cavs’ error to add four more tallies to its total to make it 6-0.

Bobbi Mihelarakis drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the fourth. The Lady Eagles answered with a trio of runs on a triple to increase the lead to 9-1. Shelley Newton ground out to second to score Britney Lawson for the other lone run for UVA-Wise before eventually falling 11-2.

Tori Flint lined the Lady Cavs’ only hit of the game, a single, in the bottom of the fifth.

UVA-Wise will now be off for over week before traveling to Williamsburg, KY for a twinbill at the University of the Cumberlands on Monday, Feb. 26 th starting at 2:00 p.m.
