Bristol, Tenn. – After a dominating Lauren Snead one-hitter to defeat King College, 4-0, UVa-Wise had two miscues that proved costly to allow Tennessee Wesleyan prevail, 2-1, in an elimination game of the Appalachian Athletic Conference softball tournament.

The Lady Cavs (26-17) will now have almost a week off before playing in the NAIA Region XII tournament to be held on the campus of Indiana University-Southeast in New Albany, Indiana from May 8-10.

Snead had one of her most dominating performances in her two seasons in the morning contest. The sophomore allowed just a bloop single third base, walked one in the seventh and fanned 10 King batters in the 4-0 shutout. She also pitched two scoreless frames in relief in the second game.

Christine Cantone was the top hitter in the two games. The sophomore lined two doubles with a rbi against King and single in the afternoon game. Britney Lawson slapped a two-run homer in the opener while Mary Wilson had a solo shot in the late game.
