Lady Cavs Receive Second Seed in NAIA Region XII Softball Tourney

Wise, Va. – The UVa-Wise softball team will begin its NAIA Region XII title defense as the second seed of six teams starting on Wednesday, May 7. The Lady Cavs have won two of the past three Region XII championships and will try to make it three on the campus of Indiana University-Southeast in New Albany, Ind.

UVa-Wise (26-17) comes off a disappointing Appalachian Athletic Conference run where it won just one game in three played and failed to make the championship game for the first time in four years.

AAC champion Milligan College (36-17) was given the top seed of the tournament and will await the winner of the fourth seed and host Indiana-Southeast (29-10) and number five Union College (22-27). UVa-Wise will face the winner of the other opening contest between third-seed Mountain State (27-17) and sixth-rated Tennessee Wesleyan (19-27).

The region play will run from Wednesday, April 7 through Friday, April 9.
