Bulldogs Take Four Lower Singles to Defeat Cavs

Athens, TN - Trailing 2-1 after the doubles, Tennessee Wesleyan took the four lower singles matches to defeat the UVA-Wise men's tennis team Saturday afternoon. Henning Kuich and Derick Wood won both their singles and doubles matches to pace the Highland Cavaliers.
The Cavs fall to 1-3 and 0-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference while the Bulldogs are 1-2 and 1-0 in the league.
Kuich won easily by a identical 6-1 sets at the top singles while Wood won a close three set victory at second singles. The duo claimed an 8-5 victory at one doubles while Chris Kostic and Wes Sturgill won third singles by the same score.
Tennessee Wesleyan won the third through sixth singles matches, all by straight sets, to key its way to a 5-4 win.
The Cavs return to action on March 20th against Southern Virgina at home starting at 3:30 p.m.
