Kuich Earns VaSID All-State for Men’s Tennis

Ferrum, Va. – For the first time, UVA-Wise has a men’s tennis player, Henning Kuich, earn Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) 2007 College Division All-State team. The junior top Cavaliers’ player was picked to second team status.
For the top honors, sophomore John James from the University of Mary Washington takes the top honor as the Player of the Year. Hampden-Sydney’s William Moss takes home the Rookie of the Year honor while Washington & Lee’s David Detwiler is Coach of the Year.
Kuich served as the top singles and doubles player for UVA-Wise. The Hamburg, Germany native posted an impressive 10-1 record for the season with the lone defeat at the hands of the Appalachian Athletic Conference champion. Henning had a solid 7-4 doubles mark at the top doubles team. He was selected All-AAC for the second year in a row as well as both AAC All-Sportsmanship team and Academic All-AAC squad.
All-State teams are selected by active members of the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association. Although VaSID has been awarding All-State teams since the 1982-83 school year, this is the second men's tennis All-State team.
