Tusculum Blanks UVa-Wise Tennis Squads

Greeneville , Tenn. – The NCAA Division II Tusculum College tennis squads proved to be too much for the UVa-Wise teams on Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers posted 9-0 shutout over both the Cavs teams.  

Henning Kuich took a set at the top men’s singles match before having to retire. Kuich teamed with Derrick Wood at the top doubles but suffered a narrow 8-6 defeat.  

Autumn Lauzon put up a good fight in the number one women’s singles. Lauzon lost to Tusculum’s Jenn Sparks in straight sets 6-2 and 7-5. As was the case with the men, Lauzon and Rhyssa Philip fell in a tight top doubles match, 8-6.  

The next match for both Cavs’ teams will be Sunday, March 16 th at home against Berea College.
