UVa-Wise Picks Up First Women's Tennis Win

Wise, VA -- Autumn Lauzon, Laura King and Nicole Pilkenton all won two times to lead The University of Virginia's College at Wise to its first women's tennis win of the spring. The Lady Cavs won three singles matches and the trio of doubles bouts for a 6-3 victory over Emory & Henry College.

UVa-Wise (1-3) picked up wins by Lauzon at second singles (6-4, 7-5) and King for the third spot (6-1, 6-2). Pilkenton had a tough win at four singles by scores of 6-7, 6-4, 10-4. The Lady Cavs won the three doubles matches (8-6, 8-4 and 8-2).

Top singles player Davina Dishner played tough before losing 3-6, 5-7. The other two singles, Rhyssa Philipp and Krista Jenkins, fell but had solid outings as well.

The team will next host Maryville College on Tuesday afternoon.
