Ind.-Southeast Eliminates UVa-Wise Women’s Tennis from Regional Play
April 28, 2006
Wise, VA – After sweeping through the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament last weekend, the UVa-Wise women’s tennis team could not duplicate the feat in NAIA Region XII play. UVa-Wise was dealt a shutout by the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion, Indiana-Southeast, Friday afternoon 5-0.
The defeat snaps a nine-match winning streak for the Lady Cavs, who end the season at 15-5 while winning their first AAC title since 2001. Indiana-Southeast improved to 17-4 with the victory.
Indiana-Southeast will now move on to face AAC regular season champion Union College. Union breezed past Bethel (TN) by a 5-1 final. The regional final will take play on Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m. on UVa-Wise's Jim Humphreys Courts.
