Lady Cavs Tennis Defeat VI & Tn. Wesleyan, Move to AAC Championship

Johnson City, TN – The UVA-Wise women’s tennis squad swept its way through the Appalachian Athletic Conference first round and semifinals on Friday. The Lady Cavs defeated Virginia Intermont, 5-1, before edging past Tennessee Wesleyan by a 5-4 tally.

The Lady Cavs (13-4) received two singles victories from each of Autumn Lauzon, Audra Fritz and Rhyssa Philipp in the two tournament matches. Each of the three players posted 6-0, 6-0 shutouts in their bouts against Virginia Intermont. Each of the team’s three doubles duos picked up one win apiece in the two matches.

UVA-Wise will now move on to play top seed Union College on Saturday in the league championship.
