UVA-Wise Steals Women’s Tennis Win from Milligan

Johnson City , TN – In a match moved indoors to the East Tenn. State Mini Dome due to the deluge of rain outside, the UVA-Wise was able to steal a victory over Milligan College, 5-4, in women’s tennis.

With the win, the Lady Cavs wrapped up the runner-up finish in the Appalachian Athletic Conference for the regular season at 5-1. The team improved to 11-4 on the season. The Lady Buffs fell to 5-7 and 3-2 in the league.

Leading 2-1 after the doubles action, UVA-Wise equaled Milligan’s singles victories compliments of wins from Autumn Lauzon, Laura King and a three set win by Rhyssa Philipp.

The win completed the regular season for UVA-Wise. The Lady Cavs will try to capture their second title in two seasons over the weekend at the AAC tournament at the Liberty Bell Complex in Johnson City, TN on Friday and Saturday.
