Lady Cavs Defeat Bulldogs and Scots

WISE, VA - After losing the first game 31-29 to the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs, the University of Virginia’s College at Wise women’s volleyball team came back to win three games to one with scores of 30-21, 30-14, 30-22.
During the first game against Wesleyan the Lady Cavs pulled defense together as best they could but in the end the Bulldogs edged past winning 31-29.
It was in the last three games that the Lady Cavs returned with a stronger defense and defeated the Bulldogs with dominating scores of 30-21, 30-14, 30-22.
Whitney Lane led with 14 kills. Stacey Ringhoffer followed suit with 13 kills and five blocks. Davina Dishner had 14 digs and 44 assists. Cara Hamilton had 16 digs .
Against the Conenant College Scots the Lady Cavs continued with the same strong defense as seen in the games against Wesleyan overcoming the Scots with scores of 30-12, 30-27, 30-26.
In the first game UVA-Wise exhibited a concrete defense securing a score of 30-12. The second game was full of lead changes before the Lady Cavs gained the final lead ending the game with a score of 30-27. The Lady Cavs played defensively holding the lead throughout the game finishing with a score of 30-26.
Tasha Viers led with 13 kills and four blocks. Kate Daub also had 13 kills. Sarah Sinclair had 11 kills while Ringhoffer had 10 kills and 4 blocks. Hamilton proved to be consistant with 15 kills and 3 aces. Brittney Lawson had 12 digs while Dishner had 42 assists.
The Lady Cavs will host Bluefield College Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. before hitting the road again until Thursday October 20. The team will host Montreat at 6:30 p.m.
