Viers and Salyer Power Spikers Past Pikeville

WISE, VA -­ Tasha Viers and Kristen Salyer combined for 33 kills and seven blocks to take UVa-Wise past Pikeville College in the women's volleyball home opener. The Lady Cavs took care of the Bears, 3-1, by game scores of 30-20, 30-28, 29-31, 30-28.

UVa-Wise (2-1) received 18 kills, six blocks and seven digs from Viers while Salyer added 15 kills with no errors in 39 attempts. Stacey Ringhoffer had a solid game of her own with 11 kills, five digs and five blocks and Kate Dabue chipped in 11 kills and 14 digs. Cara Hamilton had a season-high 28 digs and Brittany Lawson had 22 digs of her own. Davina Dishner posted 45 set assists, fired five aces and dug 15 balls.

The Lady Cavs cannot rest as they will enter Appalachain Athletic Conference play against powerhouse King College at home in Greear Gym starting at 6:30 p.m.
