Lady Cavs Surge Past Union

Wise , VA – After dropping the opening game by a tight 33-31 score, the Lady Cavs surged past Union College by winning the next three games. The University of Virginia's College at Wise women's volleyball squad took the match by winning 30-15, 30-25, 30-25 for its third straight win of the week.
The victory gave UVa-Wise its first 3-0 week of the year to improve to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Lady Bulldogs went to 3-6 for the season and 2-2 in the league.
On the court, Tasha Viers put together a monster afternoon. She down a season-best 22 kills with three errors in 39 total attack for a .487 hitting percentage. The sophomore from Abingdon, Va. added seven blocks and 13 digs to her performance.
Along with Viers, Kate Daub (Williamsburg, VA) was not to be outdone. She had 19 kills and a .450 hitting percentage to go with 13 digs, five aces and a block. Kristen Salyer added nine kills and four blocks while teammate Sarah Sinclair chipped in nine kills of her own. Davina Dishner posted 53 assists and 18 digs to round out the top performers.
UVa-Wise will return to action Tuesday night when they play at Brevard College for a 6:30 p.m. match.
