UVA-Wise Spikers Sweep Milligan

Wise, VA -- Kristen Salyer and Natasha Viers downed 26 combined kills to help UVA-Wise sweep past Milligan College in volleyball Tuesday night. The Lady Cavs defeated the Lady Buffs, 3-0, by scores of 30-26, 30-24 and 30-25 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play.

UVA-Wise improves to 9-13 on the season and 5-9 in the AAC. Milligan goes to 7-15 and 3-8 in the league.

Viers (Abingdon, VA) hit 14 kills with a .500 hitting percentage, five blocks and five digs. Salyer (Gate City, VA) had a double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs while having four blocks. Cara Hamilton (Gate City, VA) handed out 39 assists, Kate Daub chipped in nine kills and Britney Lawson dug seven balls. Emily Helms lined eight kills and blocked three attacks.

The Lady Cavs return to action Friday night at Montreat College for a 6:30 p.m. match.
