UVA-Wise Storm Past Montreat

Montreat, NC -- Friday night started out rough for the UVA-Wise women's volleyball team but it turned out to victorious in the end. Down 2-1, the Lady Cavs stormed back to take the fourth game, 30-25 and rode the momentum to a 15-6 fifth game win for the 3-2 match victory at Montreat College.

UVA-Wise takes its season mark to 10-13 and 6-9 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. Montreat falls to 8-18 on the year and 6-8 in the league. The first three game scores were 17-30, 30-25 and 27-30.

Kristen Salyer had an outstanding night. Salyer pounded 24 kills, hit .310, dug nine balls and line two service aces. Kate Daub added 16 kills while Emily Helms had an all-around game of nine kills, 13 digs and two aces. Cara Hamilton handed out 51 assists and dug 12 balls. Britney Lawson recorded 16 digs.

The Lady Cavs will next play a non-conference match next Tuesday night at Brevard College.
