Cobras Bite Lady Cav Spikers

Bristol, VA -- On Halloween night, the Lady Cobras sunk their teeth into the Lady Cavs women's volleyball team. Virginia Intermont took care of the UVA-Wise squad in three games with scores of 30-23, 30-22 and 33-31.
Virginia Intermont remained in second place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference with the win. The Lady Cobras took its conference mark to 14-3 and 18-12 on the year. UVA-Wise fell to 10-16 and 6-11 in the AAC.
Emily Helms (Gate City, VA) had a solid all-around effort for the Lady Cavs. Helms downed 11 kills in 28 attempts while hitting .286 to go with three aces, two digs and a block assist. Kristen Salyer produced a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs while Kate Daub added 11 kills, an ace and a block assist. Cara Hamilton handed out 37 assists and Britney Lawson dug 11 balls.
UVA-Wise will have its final home match in Greear Gym and celebrate Senior Night on Thursday evening when it hosts Bluefield starting at 6:30 p.m.
