Lady Cavs Spike Lady Bears, Give Dallman First Win

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – UVA-Wise provided a strong showing and spiked host Pikeville College to give head coach Steve Dallman his first victory at the helm of the Lady Cavs.

After a rough showing on Tuesday night, the Lady Cavs (1-1) evened their mark with a 30-27, 21-30, 30-25, 30-24 win over the Lady Bears (2-1).

The UVA-Wise frontline produced four double figure kill efforts on the night. Junior Tasha Viers led the way with 14 kills, 12 digs and four block assists. Stacey Ringhoffer added 12 kills while Kate Daub chipped in 11 kills and three solo blocks. Kristen Salyer contributed 10 kills and a trio of aces.

Davina Dishner handed out 43 assists while digging 15 balls. Brittney Lawson had top defensive honors with 20 digs and Cara Hamilton had five digs.

The Lady Cavs will next have their home opener next Tuesday night, September 5th when they host regional opponent, Emory & Henry, for a 6:30 p.m. match.
