Lady Cavs Volleyball Complete Season Sweep of Pikeville

Wise, VA -- For the first time of the 2006 season, the UVA-Wise women's volleyball team completed a sweep of an opponent. The Lady Cavs shutout the Pikeville Lady Bears, 3-0, on Thursday night by scores of 30-25, 31-29 and 30-20. Tasha Viers paced UVA-Wise with 16 kills and 17 digs.

UVA-Wise has now ran its winning streak on the volleyball court to three games and improved to 7-8. The Lady Cavs defeated the Lady Bears, 3-1, back on August 31st. Pikeville drops to 7-13.

Along with her 16 kills and 17 digs, Viers (Abingdon, VA) added two aces and three blocks. Kate Daub (Williamsburg, VA) pounded 12 kills and two blocks. Kristen Salyer (Gate City, VA) contributed nine kills and dug eight balls. Leeza Dos Santos (Virginia Beach, VA) handed out 39 assists while adding eight digs, two blocks and an ace. Britney Lawson (Rye Cove, VA) had a career-best 30 digs on defense. Cara Hamilton (Gate City, VA) also posted 13 digs.

The Lady Cavs will now be off until traveling to Johnson City, TN for a 6:30 p.m. match next Wednesday, November 4th at Milligan College.
