Lady Cavs Spikers Shutout Wasps

Wise, VA -- In the season home opener, The University of Virginia's College at Wise spikers shutout Emory & Henry College Tuesday night. The Lady Cavs breezed through the first two games, 30-23 and 30-15 before having to come back from down six points to complete the sweep, 30-28.

UVA-Wise improves to 2-1 on the year with the home victory. Emory & Henry dropped to 1-4.

With a balanced attack, Tasha Viers (Abingdon, VA) and Stacey Ringhoffer (Richlands, VA) paced the frontline with 11 and 10 kills. Setter Davina Dishner (Gate City, VA) produced a solid evening with 33 assists, eight digs and six service aces. Cara Hamilton (Gate City, VA) and Brittney Lawson (Rye Cove, VA) added 11 and nine digs while Kate Daub (Williamsburg, VA) downed eight kills.

The Lady Cavs open their Appalachian Athletic Conference slate against the preseason favorite, King College, on the road Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.
