Lady Cavs’ Viers Repeats as NAIA Region XII and AAC Volleyball “Player of the Week”

Wise, VA – For the second time in as many weeks, UVA-Wise’s Natasha Viers was honored as both the NAIA Region XII and Appalachian Athletic Conference “Player of the Week.”  Viers hit .474 and pounded 46 kills in nine games to help the Lady Cavs split a pair of contests.
 
The junior from Abingdon, VA set a season-high with 29 kills to go with 11 digs as UVA-Wise (5-8/2-4 AAC) defeated Union College, 3-1, last Thursday night.  Viers added three aces and a block in the match and hit .683 in 41 total attack.
 
In the other match of last week, the middle blocker contributed 17 kills, 11 digs, seven blocks and three aces as the Lady Cavs fell, 3-2, to Montreat College.
 
UVA-Wise returns to action tonight when it plays at Bluefield College starting at 6:30 p.m.
