Wise, Va. – Natasha Viers and Britney Lawson both added to their 2007 women’s volleyball awards by both receiving NAIA All-Region XII honors. Viers claimed a spot on the first team while Lawson was a second team member.

The two have helped lead the Lady Cavs to doubling last season’s win total and 22-13 overall mark heading into the NAIA Region XII playoffs on Friday afternoon. UVa-Wise placed third in the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament last weekend and received the fifth seed where it will face fourth-seed Indiana-Southeast in a 4:00 p.m. match at King College in Bristol, Tenn.

Viers made the All-Region squad for the third-straight year. She also last week picked up her third All-AAC first team award. The senior has been the offensive driving force of the Lady Cavs. Tasha paces the AAC in kills (4.7 kills/game) while second in blocks (1.6 blks/game) and third in hitting percentage (.298). Lawson of Rye Cove, Va. makes her first appearance on the All-Region team. She was selected the Libero of the Year and All-AAC first team. She led second year head coach Steve Dallman’s defense and the AAC with 6.8 digs per game. Lawson earned the NAIA National Libero of the Week and NAIA Region XII Libero of the Week one time apiece and selected for the AAC same honor five times.
