Viers & Lawson Adds Virginia All-State Selection to Award Lists

Wise, Va. – Natasha Viers and Britney Lawson were selected as part of the Virginia College Division Sports Information Directors All-State second team volleyball.
The two helped lead the Lady Cavs to the program's first NAIA Region XII championship and run to the NAIA National Championships. UVa-Wise increased the 2006 win total by 14 to 25-16, to set a record for most wins in a season.
Both players, who were two-thirds of the team's Tri-Most Valuable Players, made their first appearance on the VaSID All-State teams.
Viers, who was voted the team's Best Offensive Player, made the All-Region and All-AAC squads for the third-straight year. She led the squad with 733 kills, 4.79 kills/game, .287 hitting percentage and 240 total blocks.
The team's Best Defensive Player, Lawson made her first appearance on the All-Region team. She was also selected the Libero of the Year and All-AAC first team. The Rye Cove, Va. native dug 1,047 balls while serving 33 aces.
