King Crowns UVa-Wise

Bristol, Tenn. – After winning the first match, UVa-Wise was crowned in the women’s volleyball rematch at King College Tuesday night. The Tornado took care of the Lady Cavs in three-straight games, 22-30, 15-30 and 15-30.

The two Appalachian Athletic Conference teams switch places in the standings. King (16-12) took over third place with a 10-3 league record while UVa-Wise (17-10) dropped to fourth at 11-4.

AAC Player of the Week Tasha Viers downed 12 kills, dug seven balls and blocked five attempts. Kristen Salyer added 10 kills, nine digs, two blocks and an ace. Whittney Lane chipped in seven kills with three digs and three block assists.

Sam Puryea dished out 25 assists, dug six balls and had a block. Britney Lawson posted 23 digs and Cara Hamilton five.

The Lady Cavs return to the road for a Thursday night at Montreat College for a 6:30 p.m. match.
