Lawson Adds Final AAC Weekly Volleyball Award

Wise, Va. – UVa-Wise’s Britney Lawson added the final Appalachian Athletic Conference Libero of the Week volleyball award of the season to her list of 2007 accomplishments announced Monday afternoon.

The junior helped the Lady Cavs (22-13) capture third in this past weekend’s AAC tournament. Her defense has aided the squad to qualify for its first trip in four years to the NAIA Region XII playoffs this Friday and Saturday at King College.

Lawson, the AAC Libero of the Year and all-league first team member, started the week with a career-best 47 digs in a 3-2 win over Pikeville College. For the five match week, the Rye Cove, Va. High grad averaged 9.3 digs per game (183 digs in 19 games) while serving four aces. The third-year libero had an AAC tourney high of 42 digs in a five-game victory over Union College, the first of the year over the Lady Bulldogs.
