J.J. Kelly’s Brummette Signs with UVa-Wise Volleyball

August 29, 2007

Seated (L-R): Samantha Brummette, UVa-Wise head coach Steve Dallman; Standing: J.J. Kelly Principal Charles Collins, Brandy Lawson, sister of Samantha, Jeff and Leisa Brummette, parents, and J.J. Kelly head volleyball
coach Allison Shortt.

Wise, VA – Among her family, current and future coach on Wednesday morning, J.J. Kelly High School’s Samantha Brummette signed to take her volleyball game just down the road to the University of Virginia’s College at Wise for the fall of 2008.

The record-setting setter signed to become the Lady Cavs’ head coach Steve Dallman’s first official student-athlete of next year’s recruiting class. Dallman brought a solid first recruiting class and is on his way to another starting with today’s signing for a bright future of UVa-Wise volleyball.

Fresh off a 32 assist effort in a Tuesday night J.J. Kelly win over Thomas Walker, Brummette is a four-sport athlete. The setter broke the Lady Indian school single season assist record last year with over 700 on her way to being named the Lonesome Pine District Setter of the Year.

Brummette earned All-LPD honorable mention the past two years in basketball, All-LPD second team in softball in the spring and qualified for the regionals in track & field. The senior received Academic All-District in each of the four sports.

The senior class president plans to study chemistry over the next four years at UVa-Wise. She is the daughter of Jeff and Leisa Brummette of Wise, Va.
