Lawson Repeats as AAC Libero of the Week

Wise, Va. – For the third time of the season and second week in a row, Britney Lawson was selected as the Appalachian Athletic Conference women’s volleyball Libero of the Week. The UVa-Wise junior posted a career-best 40 digs to aid in the comeback, 3-2, win at Virginia Intermont.
The Lady Cavs enter the week in third place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference with a 7-2 record. The squad will host the two leading teams of the four home matches this week. The bouts start with co-leader Union Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., “Dig for a Cure” Night when Tennessee Wesleyan comes to town on Wednesday, co-leader Bryan on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. before rounding out the week in a 10:30 a.m. match versus Covenant on Saturday.
Lawson leads the AAC with a 6.44 digs per game average and has dug 522 balls in 81 games. She became just the second Lady Cavs player to surpass the career 1,000 dig mark. Britney needs just 132 digs the rest of the 2007 season to break Kari Sparks’ 2003 record of 653 digs.
