UVa-Wise Falls in Three to #8 Lewis-Clark

Columbia, Mo. – UVa-Wise put up a good fight in its second NAIA National women’s volleyball Championships match but could not match the runs of eighth-ranked Lewis-Clark (ID). The Warriors captured the match 3-0 over the Lady Cavs, 17-30, 17-30 and 19-30.
UVa-Wise (25-14) played better against Lewis-Clark State (26-7) on Thursday morning overall than the previous early hours against second-rated Cal Baptist. The Lady Cavs complete their Pool B play in a 4:45 p.m. bout against the Scorpions of Texas-Brownsville.
Tasha Viers (Abingdon, Va.) made double figures in kills with 13 to pace the frontline. Whittney Lane (Norton, Va.) added eight kills and three block assists. Kaitlyn Collins (Cleveland, Va.) came off the bench for six kills and hit .375 to go with six total blocks.
Kristen Salyer (Hiltons, Va.) chipped in 11 digs and five kills with an ace. Britney Lawson (Rye Cove, Va.) dug 21 balls. Sam Puryea (Bristol, Tenn.) handed out 32 assists and dug six attempts.
