UVa-Wise Makes Quick Work of Montreat Spikers

Wise, Va. – UVa-Wise made quick work of the Montreat women’s volleyball team in an Appalachian Athletic Conference on Tuesday night. The Lady Cavs swept past the Montreat Lady Cavaliers behind a team effort by hitting .336 for the 3-0 match with scores of 30-14, 30-19 and 30-25.
UVa-Wise improves to 12-8 on the year and posts one more wins than the squad did in all of the first year under head coach Steve Dallman. The Lady Cavs are now 6-2 in the AAC. Montreat drops to 8-11 and 3-6 in the league.
Natasha Viers lined 19 kills and blocked nine attempts. Kristen Salyer had a good all-around game with 15 kills, hit .433, three aces, eight digs and two blocks. Whittney Lane added nine kills, three blocks and three assists while Maggie Berry chipped in seven kills.
Sam Puryea dished out 41 assists, dug 14 balls and hit four kills. Leeza Dos Santos produced eight digs and two aces. Britney Lawson and Cara Hamilton led the defense with 34 and 10 digs.
UVa-Wise will now be off until traveling to Virginia Intermont next Thursday night, October 4 th for a 7:00 p.m. match.
