Southwestern Blanks UVa-Wise Volleyball

Lexington, Va. – After recording a big conference win on Thursday night, the UVa-Wise women’s volleyball team had a letdown on Friday night at the Washington & Lee Tournament. The Lady Cavs feel in three games (30-32, 23-30 and 16-30) to the Lady Pirates of Southwestern (TX) University.

UVa-Wise (5-5) was paced by Whittney Lane’s 10 kills and seven blocks. Tasha Viers added nine kills and 16 blocks. Sam Puryea added 23 assists and Britney Lawson had 17 digs.

The Lady Cavs will face Southern Virginia at 1:00 before taking on Christopher Newport for a 3:30 p.m. bout in the second day of the event.
