Collier Set to Call UVa-Wise Her Volleyball Home
February 12, 2008
Roanoke, Va. – Lord Botetourt’s Amy Collier, the latest piece in the future University of Virginia’s College at Wise women’s volleyball squad, inked her collegiate letter of intent on Monday afternoon. The middle blocker becomes the fifth incoming cog for the 2008 Lady Cavalier spikers.
The Roanoke native joins a UVa-Wise team which set a school record for victories (25-16) as well as claiming its first NAIA Region XII title and trip to the NAIA National Championships.
Collier helped Lord Botetourt to both Blue Ridge District and regional championships the past two seasons. The six-foot middle earned all-district first team this last year while being named to the second team as a junior and the honorable mention team two seasons ago. The senior also claimed all-region honorable mention.
The future Lady Cav is the daughter of John and Ivy Collier of Roanoke. She carries a 3.7 GPA with plans on majoring in business administration and sport management starting in the fall on the Wise campus.
