UVa-Wise ‘Volleyball Family’ to Welcome Lafoon

Richmond, Va. – The University of Virginia’s College at Wise women’s volleyball ‘family’ will be happy to welcome Mills Godwin High School’s Eleanor Anne Lafoon. The middle hitter signs a letter of intent to join the Lady Cavaliers’ frontline for the fall of 2008.
Lafoon from Richmond, Va. will join a now class of six highly touted freshmen for next fall to join a UVa-Wise team which set a school record for victories (25-16) as well as claiming its first NAIA Region XII title and trip to the NAIA National Championships.
The six-foot Lafoon helped Mills Godwin claim the district title and place fourth in Virginia State High School state playoffs. She was selected all-district honorable mention as well as being picked for her team’s “Coaches Award.”
The scholastic senior was part of the 2007 17-year old National team that captured third place in the nation at the Junior Olympics tournament in June. Lafoon currently plays for the Richmond Volleyball Club on the Zonal team.
Eleanor Anne is the daughter of Don and Elizabeth Lafoon of Richmond. The future Lady Cav plans to major in art therapy upon her arrival at the Wise campus.
