In the first year directing the Lady Cavs, Dallman guided the team to an 11-17 mark and a 7-11 record in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The second campaign should see the squad have a marked improvement running his system for a second year, a good core of returners as well as the influx of the first talented recruiting class to the team.
The veteran head coach came to UVa-Wise after spending the previous nine seasons directing the women’s volleyball team at NCAA Division I University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Dallman went 90-155 over his stint, which left him as the school's winningest coach in school history. His 1999 squad set the Kangaroo marks for overall season wins (20-14) and league victories (10-4).
During the same time period, Dallman led the Kangaroos to the Mid-Continent Conference tournament five times while having five first team and seven second team all-conference players. He has also coached the Mid-Con's Freshman of the Year and Setter of the Year honorees. His teams have been extremely successful in the classroom just as importantly. UMKC earned the John McKenna Award two times (1998 and 2000) for the Mid-Con team's highest grade point average as well as receiving the AVCA Molten Team Academic Award five times under his tuteledge. His players were honored academically by the Mid-Con 50 times.
Before going to UMKC, Dallman guided the women's volleyball program for the University of Southern Mississippi in Conference USA. At USM, he was 32-68 and led the Golden Eagles to their first-ever district ranking and posted the winningest conference season in the school's history. Over his 11-year head coaching career, he has compiled a 122-223 mark in NCAA Division I play.
In 1997, Dallman was an assistant coach on the University of Louisville staff and aided in the team's recruiting. The coach served as an assistant coach at NAIA member College of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois for two seasons where the teams were 35-6.
Dallman began his coaching career at Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1985. Over five seasons, his teams compiled a 122-40 record and he earned Coach of the Year honors in 1988. He also served as an apprentice coach to the U.S. Olympic volleyball team in 1990 and was the director and head coach of the Divers Sports Center where he oversaw the top high school tournament in the country, the Nike High School Challenge.
The head coach has four children - Amy, Rebekah, Karen and Todd along with one grandson, Kevin (5) and a granddaughters, Kennedy (3) and Elizabeth (1). |
