UVa-Wise students, alumni invited to interact with employers at Career and Internship Fair March 19
Students and alumni of The University of Virginia’s College at Wise will have a chance to interact with local, regional and national employers at the 2008 Career and Internship Fair on Wednesday, March 19 in the Fred B. Greear Gymnasium.
Hosted by the Office of Career Services at UVa-Wise, the fair will give students the opportunity to speak with potential employers face-to-face. Employers will review résumés, schedule interviews and provide general information about their company and employment guidelines. Students of any major and alumni from all academic backgrounds are welcome to network with employers in a wide range of careers and industries for potential employment or internship opportunities.
Companies represented at the fair will include BB&T, Barr Pharmaceuticals, CGI, Crutchfield, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Lowe’s, Northrop Grumman, Sykes, Thompson and Litton, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Virginia State Police, Walgreen’s, Wellmont and Wise County Schools. Other companies and organizations will also be represented at the fair. For a regularly updated list of employers, visit www.uvawise.edu/student_development/career_development.html.
Participants should dress professionally and have up-to-date résumés ready to hand out to employers of interest. The fair will begin at noon and last until 3 p.m.
Students can register for the fair until noon on March 18 at the Center for Student Development in Cantrell Hall or online at www.uvawise.edu/student_development/career_development.html. A complete list of employers that will be represented at the fair can also be found at the site.
The Office of Career Services is available for help with résumés or tips for interviewing. Students also can stop by to see a display of professional dress, which is required for the fair. The display is courtesy of Belk in Wise.
