The Diviners,
Vinegar Tom at UVa-Wise this weekend
Theatergoers have one more weekend to catch performances
of the plays The Diviners and Vinegar Tom at The University
of Virginia’s College at Wise.
The Diviners is a dramatic, but sometimes humorous play
written by Jim Leonard, Jr. The play revolves around a small
boy named Layman, his fear of the water, and the events
that occur because of it. Performance dates for The Diviners
are Friday, April 23 at 8 p.m. and Sunday April 25 at 2p.m.
The main cast for The Diviners includes Kimberly Hay, Sarah
Beth Holcomb, Bryan Hepner, Kenneth Roper, Jr., Ashley Jones,
Allana Barrett, Brandon Weeks, Jenny Saupp, Emahunn Campbell,
and Jeremy Monk.
Vinegar Tom is a serious drama set during the Salem Witch
Trials. Written by Coryn Churchhill, the play depicts the
trial of two women accused of being witches and the townspeople
who accused them. Performance dates for Vinegar Tom are
Thursday, April 22 and Saturday, April 24 at 8 p.m. Vinegar
Tom contains adult themes and situations and is not appropriate
for children.
Cast members include D’Ivonne Holman, Kate Daub, Mary
Rose Hanson, Tiffany Nwankwo, Laurie Adams, Doug Wilkinson,
Jeremy Monk, and David Flanary, Jr.
Tickets are $5 at the door and seating is limited to 80
people per night. UVa-Wise students will be admitted free
with a valid student ID.
