Auditions Set for World Premiere Production at UVa-Wise
August 29, 2000

Area actors have an opportunity to take part in a world premiere production of a play to be staged in November at The University of Virginia's College at Wise.

Auditions for "Minnie America," a play by emerging New York City playwright Heather Flock, are set for Sept. 5-6 at the UVa-Wise Theatre. The audition begins at 7 p.m. each evening. Callbacks are set for 7 p.m. on Sept. 7.

Set at the end of the 19th century, the work is a sometimes-humorous social commentary about the roles of men and women. The cast will include about 20 actors ranging in age from the late teens to the late sixties.

The play will make its world premiere at UVa-Wise on Nov. 1 and continue through Nov. 5. The curtain opens at 8 p.m. Nov. 1-Nov. 4 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 5.

For more information, contact theatre director Laura Miller at 540-328-0226.
