Holiday Festival with the Arts Dec. 4-11

The public is invited to celebrate the holiday season along with The University of Virginia's College at Wise during the eighth-annual Holiday Festival with the Arts Dec. 4-11.

Sponsored by the UVa-Wise Department of Visual and Performing Arts, the Holiday Festival with the Arts began as a way to showcase the talents of UVa-Wise faculty, staff and students and has proven so successful new events have been added each year. This year's festival features a variety of musical performances and a student art exhibit, which will be on display in the Commonwealth Hall gallery through Dec. 11.

Those interested in making their own works of art are invited to attend a "star book craft shop" on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 1-2:30 p.m. All materials will be provided for the workshop, however, pre-registration is required.

All Holiday Festival With the Arts events are free and open to the public.

Tuesday, Dec. 4 through Tuesday, Dec. 11
Student Art Exhibit, Commonwealth Hall
The creative works of UVa-Wise art students will be on display in the Commonwealth Hall gallery.
The exhibit is open during regular business hours.

Wednesday, Dec. 5
1 p.m., Chapel of All Faiths
Musical performance by the UVa-Wise College Choir, under the direction of D. Michael Donathan.

Thursday, Dec. 6
7:30 p.m., Theatre Building
Musical performance by the
Wise Renaissance Revellers,
under the direction of Ross and Harriet Grable.
Dressed in period costumes, the Renaissance Revelers will offer an assortment of "Renaissance Christmas delights."

Saturday, Dec. 8
1-2:30 p.m., Commonwealth Hall (Room B022)
Star Book Craft Shop
instructed by Suzanne Adams-Ramsey Star books are small, hand-made books that open out like fans to create five-pointed, three-dimensional stars. Great as Christmas ornaments or novelty gifts, star books require only simple cutting, folding and gluing techniques to create. The class is limited to 10 participants.

Monday, Dec. 10
8 p.m., Chapel of All Faiths
The UVa-Wise Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band Concert
The group is under the direction of Leigh Clark. Tuesday, Dec. 11 8 p.m., Chapel of All Faiths UVa-Wise Chamber Choir Concert. The choir is under the direction of D. Michael Donathan.
